# 7 Giant Shuttlecocks
In 1994 artists Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen turned the lawn at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art into a giant badminton court and positioned four giant shuttlecock sculptures around the building. They’re imposing, obnoxious, glaringly obvious from the street and endlessly intriguing. Just the kind of off-center, strangely executed idea that I’ve come to adore about Kansas City.
